Regina Humane Society is over run by cats and kittens so they are holding an adoption event. It has the usual screening procedures and proper paperwork, but they have tried to catch people's attention and make them laugh....and then come in to adopt a cat.

They are calling it "Crazy Steve's Name You Price Cat Sale!"
It is a spoof on a used car sale ad. I think it is funny and creative and it is working.

On the whole, big adoption events work anyhow. People are thinking about getting a cat. This provides the motivation to actually do it.
Some places have a clear the shelter event. One summer they did a special all black pets half price. They do adopt a senior pet specials. They usually drop the fee or cut it in half and give away a bunch of stuff with the pet.
They always do a careful job of screening new owners so it is all done responsibly. If we want our shelters to be No Kill then they need to do special events. Otherwise they would be over run with unwanted pets.
I love the Crazy Steve ad.
