Detroit is a city still badly hit by the economic down turn. The Detroit Dog Rescue does an amazing job of rescuing animals in need. Sadly they often have to rescue them from Detroit Animal Services.

Detroit Animal Services is a real problem for pet owners in the city.

It seems that Detroit Animal control has quite a history.

Things look bad. That many pet owners complaining about Detroit Animal Control makes you wonder what is going one there.

The least they could do is release animals to their owners. It seems like a money grab when they hold animals until they get more money.
It is deplorable! To keep any dog in those conditions for even an hour! Once they get a grip on a dog it seems they don't let it go unless they get paid. And they obviously do not care if a dog suffers and/or dies while in their 'care'.

The one who took their dog for a rabies shot, and it was kept so long, and released in terrible condition. In my view that is a prosecutable offence. No-one has any excuse to treat a dog that way. Certainly not an animal control facility. They either do not employ enough people, or have very lax standards or both, and from what I've seen, I would say they need to be shut down, and the dogs handed to DDS (as that apparently is the only no-kill facility in Detroit) -or other rescue facilities outside Detroit.
I hope something is done about this very soon.
I think there are enough pet owners protesting that things should change soon.

Clearly Detroit Animal Control is out for the money. They do not care about the animals. Also, if so many animals are dying they are doing something wrong with their facility.

I hope they let some other group take it over and run the facility properly. Detroit still needs an operational animal control facility.
