Full Version: Orangutans threatened by wildfires

The whole culture of burning the forest for agriculture has gotten out control in Indonesia. There are not rampant wildfires. Humans an animals are both effected. Orangutans are so endangered now. This is serious for them because they need the forest to survive.

It is fortunate that there are people trying to rescue them.

Life is hard enough for Orangutans without the threat of smoke and fire.

This is one really good reason to avoid earing any palm oil products.
Palm oil plantations are behind the slash and burn mentality and they directly lead to the deaths of orangutans.
It is sad to see all the orphans because that means that an equal number of mothers has died. All we can hope for is a return to sanity and a restoration of the essential forests. All those orphans need somewhere to live when they grow up.

I am sure there are many more stories like this one and some without happy endings.
