It is hard to believe, but six years ago I sat up with Miss Charlie as she was giving birth. Tiny little Norbert is now six years old. Time just flies sometimes.

Miss Charlie is the black piggie. Pigbert, the dad is on the right. Norbert is in the middle.   Both parents are gone now, but they had so much fun with baby Norbert.  He was so cute.[Image: IMG_3325.JPG][Image: IMG_3298.JPG]So cute.
Norbert grew up to be a happy piggie and has enjoyed the company of other guinea pigs all his life.

He was close to Murray and Robbie.

I couldn't find a picture of him alone.

Norbert's whole life has been spent in the company of other guinea pigs.

This is still my favourite picture. Norbert has been quietly happy all his life. He has lived in the company of loving parents, loving brothers and he has always been content. In six years he has always been a sweet gentle guinea pig. I always think of him as Pigbert's gift to me before he died.  He is in good health so who knows how much more time we have together. I am glad I have had six years.
They are all so precious. I've never had guinea pigs personally but know many others who have. They make good pets. How long is their lifespan?
So cute, Happy birthday to him.....
As with everyday of his life, Norbert is quietly happy with his breakfast and his hay. He will be happy when I clean enclosure. His father, Pigbert, was always content. He is always happy to just be there and enjoy his life.

Guinea pigs live an average of six years. I have had a couple make it to 7 years.  His mother was a rescue and she was always anxious. She died at three of a major stroke. Pigbert was neurologically damaged all his life. I always had to baby him and in the last year I spoon fed him vitamin supplements. He made it to five years.

At six, Norbert is healthy and a good weight. He is alert and happy. I think we still have some time left together.
He is cute isn't he. As a baby he was a complete surprise. I didn't think Pigbert could father a baby. The other two piggies in the litter were fathered by Lambert, the big white one in the picture. The moment he was born, I couldn't believe it. Pigbert was so excited. He was the best father ever. He was right there with mom as she gave birth. I guess he knew something I didn't.

Norbert has always been a joy. Heart
They are amazing creatures. It's too bad their lifespan isn't longer.
They are like the crocuses in my garden. They bloom so briefly, but I love their beauty and they bring such joy in the spring.  We wouldn't love them less if the lasted longer, but we do love them more because they do not.
Dearest Norbert, I'm sorry I missed your birthday. I wish you many more years in your lovely home.
I have Norbert and Rosebert who are six now. They are both older piggies, but really they are still boys. That is why they all get along. They are a silly bunch of boys acting like kids together.
Ahhhhh, little Norbert, I'm so sorry I missed your birthday.
I'm sure you had a wonderful day.
I'll bet Catherine showered you with lots of little goodies!!!
