I just came across another dog rescue that is bringing dogs from death row in a kill shelter to loving homes, this time in the Toronto area.
They use the name Dire Woofs Dog Rescue because these dogs are literally in dire straights, slated for death. Often the kill methods are barbaric, not the gentle euthanasia that we are used to for a dying pet. They just want them dead so how long it takes or how painful it is doesn't matter.
Dire woofs gives them a second chance at life just as time was running out.

This is a link to their web site, but they are going through a site overhaul right now. (I think we can identify with that)

From what I have read, they are a virtual shelter. They are all online and dogs go to foster homes and adoptions are arranged online.

I admire the extreme dedication and effort it takes to arrange all these adoptions.  There are many people involved at both ends.
I think we should acknowledge the extreme good sense of the adopting families that give a dog in need a home when they decide they want a dog.
How can any so-called 'Shelter' treat dogs this way??

It is horrific. How can anyone do that job?

Thanks to Dire Woofs who work so hard to help them find new homes. I wish them well in all they do. I hope they will get a lot of support.
There are a number of groups like this who work to take dogs from kill shelters and bring them to safety. This group is amazing.
So many dogs are being rescued. I know there are many more, but they keep rescuing as many as they can. Someday it will make a difference.

Some of the shelters are very cruel places. They are more what we call Dog Pounds rather than animal shelters. I doubt the staff have much training. The only good thing they do is let the dogs go.
Dr. Woofs Rescue is doing a great job. I didn't know that the kill shelters use barbaric means to kill dogs. I never knew that.
Some of the kill methods are horrible. There are untrained people trying to do something they do not know how to do. They come up with methods, but they are barbaric to say the least.

The no kill shelters usually have veterinarians on staff who can humanely end an animals suffering if it becomes necessary.
It is a whole different mind set.

Dire Woofs and others manage to bring dogs from the bad places to adoptive homes or to safe shelters.
It is amazing work.
Yes, I'm so glad that there are no kill shelters now and sanctuarys for these pups.
I think this is part of a bigger grass roots movement to move dogs from over populated areas to areas where there are homes.
We will see more of these movements and adoption events.

No dog is unwanted. They just haven't found their forever home yet.
