This is a video which describes how this wonderful charity helps stray dogs in Bulgaria. A friend told me about this video and I found it so moving that I decided to post it here:

That's a really nice story. I always like to see them end happily.

Catslave.

Love a happy animal story there are still some good people around.
I love to see how much the dog is transformed when she receives good care and medical treatment. It is hard to believe that it is the same dog. They always turn out so much prettier than you could ever imagine.  Thank-you for sharing a happy ending with us.
Khaleesi is a beautiful dog. I am glad she got help.
Ruzodem Street Dog Rescue....I shall remember and look them up. Thank you LPC.
I found some links about the Rudozem shelter.

They list dogs available for adoption.  There are so many beautiful dogs.

I found a video that follows the history of the shelter. I do not know how they are doing now, but it is amazing how much they have done.

These people are making such a difference to the dogs in their area. The fact that they can show dogs available for adoption on a web site is a sign that the shelter is going strong. Of course they always need money.  I hope they get the help they need.
There is a fundraising application form which seems very well organised and managed. I like their style.

I think I will ask two neighbours who love dogs and are very kind, if they would like to help me do it, sometime in the Spring or summer. They are two retired ladies who still have lots of energy and will do anything for dogs!
It's not impossible to do a full day on my own, but difficult (just wouldn't have to drink anything! LOL!)

And ask the local Council if I need any special permission to have a fundraiser in the street in my nearest town? I have a place in mind; a place where such events are often held in summer, outside the church, but it would be very weather-dependent, and in England it is hard to know way in advance if it is going to rain, blow gales, etc.....
I hope you can raise some funds for them. They are doing such good work. I wonder if there are any vets out there who would give some time to neuter some of the dogs. They seem to have so many puppies every year.

They had such a long list of dogs up for adoption.  I hope people see the dogs and want them. It must help to have dogs go to good homes. It feels good knowing they are out there rescuing as many dogs as they can.

I hope your kind neighbours can help. Every little bit would go a long way towards helping the dogs.

How sad that people in the area are cruel to the dogs. We let the dogs become strays and then we turn on them for being strays. Sometimes humans are not the nicest species on the planet.
Even if my neighbours can't help I would still like to do it. It would make up for the time I wanted to collect for Bosnian dogs and couldn't do it because of red tape. It would be fun with 'the girls' down the road, but they have dogs too and might not be able to spend much time.
I haven't asked them yet....don't know until I hear back from the local Council, if I need permission. I emailed them yesterday so we will see.
Then we will need a good weather window. (No idea how I work THAT one out! LOL)

Yes it would be great if some vets -maybe even from other countries? -could spare some time to spay/neuter the dogs and vaccinate. Under vet's supervision that would be a great opportunity for final-year veterinary students.
There are vets who go to places that need help and spend time neutering animals. (The Toronto Humane Society sent a team to Northern Canada to start neutering dogs and giving vet care)  I am sure there are international traveling vet groups. If the shelter is established enough and has the facilities they could get vets to come and help.

Of course they need money. I hope you can raise some funds for them.  You just have to hope for good weather. There is no guarantee of good weather. If you had your neighbours helping it would be more fun and you could do more.
