Do reptiles dream?
It is a valid question and one that scientists are looking at. They studied bearded dragons and found they have the same sleep patterns that are found in species that dream(including us).
It is safe to say that they do dream.

Reptiles dreaming sounds right to me. Now I wonder what they dream about. If they are like me, they are dreaming about the return of warm weather and a chance to lie in the sun.
That is interesting Catherine. There is a lot we don't yet know about all creatures, and one day maybe we'll find out. Most likely they do dream. What about? Gosh....I dreamed of little frogs last night, so who knows? Perhaps some tiny frogs somewhere dreamed of a great lurking human being with wellies on? (me! lol)
Probably reptiles dream about things that they find interesting or which have happened to them during their waking moments, or stray impressions they received while they were awake....like us?
I wish them all sweet dreams anyway.
I am sure their dreams involve food and warm basking spots.
Jonathan my first beardie lost a front foot. I think she had phantom pain from the amputation. She also seemed to have nightmares about it. I would have to hold her so she could sleep and eventually I would wrap her in a blanket at night. She slept better after that.
Sometimes reptiles look like they are smiling when they sleep so mostly they have pleasant dreams.
I would be very surprised if most animals didn't dream. Our piggies certainly look as though they're dreaming if you watch them while they sleep. All that chewing and running and sometimes even popcorning. They look like happy dreams!
I think the dwarf hamsters used to dream. Older males would lie on their backs and dream that they were nursing. They looked very happy doing it so they were pleasant dreams.
I think most reptile dreams are food related, but then so are most dreams.
