Our grand old lady gorilla Josephine had a growth on her leg and a Toronto surgeon make a call on the Toronto Zoo and operated to remove the growth. Josephine is recovering nicely.

Josephine is 44 so she is an old lady now. She has been a good mother and now a grandmother. She is one of the babies that were brought out of Africa because they were orphaned.  Her son is the silverback gorilla at Cincinnati zoo and he is a fine looking male.
Now they raise orphaned babies in sanctuaries in Africa. I have spent many hours watching and being watched by the Toronto Zoo gorilla Troop. Get well soon Josephine. Heart
Good job surgeons! Josephine will be very relieved not to have that lump on her leg any more. It's good it was a fatty tumour. Those are benign. Sometimes they can be left, but sometimes they get in the way of things and have to come off. Dogs get them too. They are usually nothing to worry about.
I understand that josepis doing very well. She is an old lady for a gorilla. Also in the early days they didn't know how to see gorillas
They did the best they could and younger gorillas benefit from what they learned.

Charles must be beside himself worrying about one of his family.
Gorillas have very strong bonds with each other.
