Apparently dogs can see in the ultraviolet end of the spectrum! So that makes for some weird and wonderful visions!

That dogs sense the Earth's magnetic field and align themselves with the north-south axis every time they pee....that is amazing!
It is fascinating about how dogs can see ultra-violet light. There must be occasions when that could be very useful. They certainly are not colour blind.

I never really checked how Puce aligned herself for a wee-wee. But Forgy seems to lift his leg at any point of the compass, LOL!
I did not know they can see ultraviolet light. I knew dogs could see differently. Now it seems they can see more.

Let's face it, dogs are superior to us. They are better people in so many ways and they seem to want to help us.  Good thing they are on our side. If we would work with them more our lives would be better.

I understand some dogs can detect cancer and we know dogs can sense seizures.

Wouldn't it be fun to  design things for dogs that tap into the visual differences. They could have patterns that only a dog can see and they could figure out what patterns dogs like.  It is a whole new concept in dog supplies.
There could be UV art galleries for dogs!

Yes they are pretty amazing. I think as time goes by we will discover they know about many other things, which we aren't aware of yet.

And with the cancer detection sometimes it is their sense of smell involved (pinpointing urine samples from early-stage cancer patients)...but with seizures, and other things, is that just the sense of smell involved? Or another sense on another level?
I think dogs smell chemical changes in the body. That is how they detect seizures. Cancer is the same. There may be  many other diseases that they can smell. Blood sugar changes would be obvious to a dog.

We are just beginning to understand all the possibilities. So many people wouldn't trust a dog. They still see them as animals.
Why do  we not screen people for cancer in its early stages with a cancer sniffing dog. Why do invasive and expensive tests for no reason on some people and miss testing people who do have cancer.

The dog here slept on the bed with me last night and I really miss my animals. It was good of her to be so close. Dogs are  amazing creatures.
