Full Version: Rare albino racoon spotted in Ontario

This is really rare and I would love to see it. Someone has spotted and gotten pictures of an albino raccoon. It is an odd looking creature, but it does look like a racoon.

I wonder how it is doing. They didn't think it was too well.
I guess the white colour makes it very vulnerable. I will post if I here anything else about the little guy.
It does look very nice all white. But I know that many all-white animals can have some defects....often with their hearing. But with an albino, eyesight too can suffer. But it has done well already, as it is obviously an adult, so let's hope it will have some more years yet.
Yes I can also imagine they are more susceptible to predators also. Unless it snows....in which case they are well camouflaged.
Raccoons hibernate in winter so the white won't help in the winter. You are right thought. It is an adult so it has done okay. There is a problem with distemper in the raccoon population. Many have become sick and died. Toronto Wildlife is always watching for sick raccoons to help them. We just don't know if this one is sick or well.
