They did a bit of a survey in BC and found that a majority of people will skip parties and events to stay home with their pets.
They prefer to spend the time with their pets and they don't like to leave the pets alone too long.

So what do you think. Would you rather be at home with your pets? Have you ever skipped anything to be with a pet.
Me? I called in to miss an important meeting because of my snake. She needed me. There are too many meetings anyhow.
It's interesting to hear that a large number of people will stay at home rather than leave their animals. I am very pleased to hear that.

Of course I used to do the same. I think I told you before Catherine but I was invited every year to a really grand Ball. A full-scale 'tiara' event.
But there was no-one to stay with Misty, from about 5pm one day to about 9am the next day. I wrote to the people who organised the Ball, and asked if I could bring Misty!  I told them she was a very nice well behaved dog and would be wearing a turqoise necklace.
I never heard from them again! 79
But there was no way I would have left Misty all those hours. And I would have loved it if she could have gone with me.

Lots of times, if I couldn't take her, I didn't really want to go -anywhere. But with friends who had Christmas parties and such like, she could always join us!

Their loss. I think Misty in a Turquoise necklace would have raised the standard of their ball and made it much more fun.

I have taken a lizard to a dinner and had a much better time knowing she was with me.
I once knew people who brought a guinea pig to a political dinner. The piggie had just had dental surgery and needed hand feeding frequently. If the piggie wasn't welcome they would have stayed home. He was one of our best volunteers so of course his piggie was welcome.

I think a lot of us miss our pets. I wish I could be home more with them.
I use them as excuses all the time. I have to get home because of my pets. Who can argue with that.
I think taking the lizard to dinner is a really nice thing to do! And that person who took their Guinea Pig to a political dinner...it was so nice to hear that!

I truly, honestly, had no interest in going anywhere I couldn't have my best friend with me. I liked those parties very much when she was beside me having fun too.

I went to a 'drinks and canapes' kind of do the other evening, and the most charming thing about it was that there were two very lovely, happy, and well-behaved dogs there. I was so warmed and welcomed by them, and that made the evening so much more enjoyable. It was also interesting to be rolled around on the lawn, and licked all over my face many times.....haha
I mean...that's what a nice blue evening dress was designed for! LOL All the other guests I shook hands with after that, I had to tell them "I smell of dog. Excuse me", and laughed.
You had more fun than anyone else. If a dress can't stand up to a dog or two it isn't the right dress anyhow.
A party with a dog or two is a real party.

A dinner where my lizard is welcome is my kind of dinner. Maybe that is the best way to test out new friends. Will they let you bring a pet with you. If no,  do you really want them as friends.

I  am surprized that no one else rolled around with you and the dogs. They missed the best part.
