Sadly a large herd of reindeer has been discovered killed by lightning strike in Norway. Hundreds of them are dead. It seems that animals like reindeer are at much greater risk of being killed by lightning. There was also no way for them to seek shelter even if they had known they should.

I didn't know why they reindeer were more at risk. It is interesting to learn how lightning works under such conditions. It is clear why so many were killed at once. They were all vulnerable at the same time.

It must have been a terrible storm. It is so sad when a beautiful animal is killed. When it is so many at once it hard to grasp the loss. For a species that is at risk this is a terrible loss.
