I was afraid when the babies were still born that I would lose the mother too. Caramel died in my arms last night.
It is as if her spirit went with the babies when they died and her body has finally freed her to join them.
She had no will to live and no amount of comfort from me and her piggie family was enough to reach her.

I offered her every treat that she liked and she was grateful, but she barely touched them. Sadly guinea pigs often die when a beloved friend/mate/ child or parent dies. They can't stand to be separated from a piggie they were close to. Caramel must have sensed the babies and bonded with them. When they died she died with them. She was such a gentle sensitive girl. I did hope I could keep her going.

She now rests in my garden with her children in a quiet shady spot where they can be together forever.
Oh I am sorry for your loss Catherine. They are very sensitive aren't they? She wanted to be with her babies I suppose, and had to go out and find them.

Dear little Caramel Heart  Bless her Soul.
I am truly sorry to hear about Caramel. You did your very best to help her, but her heart was no longer on this earth.

Run and join your babies, dear Caramel! Enjoy your life with them on the other side.
Thank-you for your kind thoughts.
It was a sad moment. She snuggled into my arms and she wanted to look at me and then she let go.
She was happy here with me and her piggie family, but her heart was with her children. She would have loved raising them. The little girl was just the image of her mother. It would have been so cute to see them together.

Caramel is at peace now and her sadness is over. She knew that I was trying to comfort and help. She knew she was loved.
Sometimes that is best that we can expect from life.
