There have already been warnings about laundry detergent pods being toxic to children. They do look like a tasty candy so they are dangerous.

Now it seems that people's pets are getting at them and getting hurt.

It seems these pods are not the best thing we could be using. Although any laundry detergent is toxic to pets or people if ingested. It is just easier for a dog to pick up a pod and bite into it or worse swallow it.

The best thing is to be super careful with any cleaning product. Assume they are toxic unless you know better.
Now we know how dangerous they are, it's best to keep them in a large jar, and never let them get onto the floor.

I always used ordinary washing powder. I wash everything by hand anyway and always did, because I never have a large load owing to my lifestyle. I can imagine for busy modern people, those pods sound like a good idea. Maybe they are? But they cost far more for the gimmick, than ordinary detergent powder. I very much doubt if a child or a dog is going to find spilled detergent powder attractive....but of course pups might.
If we use them, we have to be careful, obviously.
All the detergents are toxic so they should be used carefully. Pods are pretty and they can be picked up  by a dog and carried in the mouth. Once they break a whole load of detergent is released at once. With the powder and liquid a spill would be just a bit of detergent that an animal might walk in and chances are we would clean it up first.

I use the liquid because it goes on sale fairly often. Of course I buy a less fancy brand. The powder gets damp here and forms into a hard lump that is difficult to use with out spilling it.

I don't think the pods are a good idea. There are more possibilities for problems. They could at least make them look less like candy. So many of our cleaning products look and smell like a treat. I am surprized that there are not a lot more poisonings.
We really need to be a lot more careful about the things we use in our homes.
Yes my detergent powder can get damp in it. It all forms into a big block! To get around that I use a 2-litre glass jar with a screw cap.  I am lucky...have a stack of them in my spare room! More than I need.

I always thought those pods reminded me of some sweets we used to be able to get as children. A larger version, but similar. They shouldn't be like that, and the accidents which are happening are showing they are a bad idea.
I think they were made to look appealing so they would sell better. That is why we have so many problems with them.
I will stay with my nice normal detergent. No body gets hurt that way.
I use liquid detergent. The pods are just too expensive for me to buy.
You are right, the pods are expensive. A bottle of liquid laundry detergent can be pretty cheap when it goes on sale. It doesn't look or smell like candy. A pet can't get at it unless you are very careless about the lid.

Pods are just too dangerous.
