Full Version: Dog outside hospital -asking for help

A street dog in Spain was hanging about outside a hospital for humans. He had the most massive tumour on his body.

He was rescued on Monday 9th January 2017 by a rescue group in Spain, taken to a vet where he received an MRI scan, and finally surgery on Wednesday to remove the tumour (which looked like an over-sized benign fatty tumour from the surgery -although I can't speak Spanish. But it was affecting his ability to walk.)

He has been named "Duke". The most amazing thing was the way he communicated his situation. He knew he needed medical help, and appeared to be asking for it by hanging around outside the hospital. It was the only way he knew, to let people know. He was saying he knew he had a chance at life and he wanted to take it, right now.
His demeanour when under care was constantly patient and gentle with those who worked to help him.

and the next video of his surgery Wednesday 11th January:

He really was waiting outside the hospital looking for help.

That was a remarkable surgery. I bet he makes a full recovery. Duke is one lucky and clever dog.
I hope he finds the perfect forever home. He deserves the best.(they all deserve the best.)
I will post any updates I find of Duke. As this is happening 'right now' it may be some days before the updates.

That is a very intelligent dog.
He did seem to know where to go for help and he was very cooperative when they were working on him.

I am sure we will hear soon enough that Duke has an amazing new home.
Here is a general update posted Saturday (yesterday) from that rescue. The first part is taken up with medical updates of other dogs, but if anyone just wants to skip to Duke's update, that is at 7:37 on the video. He looks to be doing very well. His surgery was only Wednesday.

Duke is looking very good. Clearly the surgery was a success. I think he will make a very good recovery.
He has such a nice personality. I am sure they will find a good home for him.

I hope we find out when it happens. I love to see a happy ending.
