Taken alone each one is a tragic and horrifying event. When you look at them together it is a frightening tendency towards violence that seems to be spreading. In the one case it was children who killed the animal. This seems to fit with the  increase in violence towards animals that we read about in the news every day. In this case it is group violence which makes it more frightening. Individuals are very sick and their cruelty to animals is a result of their sickness. In a group there is probably a sick individual who started it, but there would have been so called normal people who went along with the killing. This is something we should be worried about. Mob violence is very dangerous and it knows no boundaries.

Zoos will have to take precautions. Who knows what other forms this violent tendency will take.
