After weeks of watching and waiting, April the giraffe has finally given birth to a baby boy. I for one was asleep at the time so I missed the live streamed event.

I understand mother and baby are doing very well. I must say, it looks like a tough birth if you are a baby giraffe.

Yes it is quite a long drop for a newborn! That is a bit of a'rude awakening'!
She was a month overdue so there was no way we could sit and watch for a month. Giraffe babies have quite a start in life.
April is a good mum and very protective as the vet found out the hard way. Ouch!

The baby looks good and April is doing a great job.
The y have some new pictures and some stats on the baby. It is a boy and they will want help naming him. I would go with Jerome the Giraffe. So how many of you are old enough to get the reference?

He is a beautiful baby isn't he. I think both parents are pretty happy about him.
