When they look at the statistics, United Airlines was responsible for 1/3 of all animal deaths during flights for the last 5 years.
That seems like a lot when you think of how many airlines there are and how many fly pets. Any airline that flies animals is going to have some losses, but 1/3 is a significant number. What are they doing, or not doing, that is causing so many animals to die.

Other airlines are not doing very well either. The real problem is treating pets as checked baggage. We all know how our suitcases do when we travel. (I still have a suitcase missing from 1987) Pets can't be treated like suitcases. If airlines want to take money for flying our pets they need to fly them so that they arrive safely. No pet should die alone in a cargo hold.
Maybe the solution is to fly some airline executives in boxes in the cargo hold and then see if they can come up with better service for our pets.
