The land was purchased in 2015. People have worked hard since then to set Foxearth Meadows up as a dragonfly nature reserve.
As many as 21 species of dragonflies have been seen so they have been successful.

The nature reserve will serve other animals, but it has been planned especially for dragon flies. These beautiful little creatures are not well understood, but they are important for a balanced ecology. With the help of even one special dragonfly site people can learn about them and maybe the help can spread.

Why are  dragonflies important?

We would have less concern about mosquito born diseases if there were more dragonflies. We might want to think about what would happen if we drive dragonflies to extinction.
It would not be too good for us. There are always consequences to our actions. Climate change, habitat destruction and pollution may hurt us more than we realize. Most mosquito born illnesses are very nasty indeed.
