Full Version: Cats rescued from a horrible situation

I have to say that the house is worse than any place I have ever seen and I mean a lot worse. Thirty cats and a ferret were found in a faeces "smothered" home. It was the mother's house and her son left two cats in there and let them multiply. They were not cleaned or provided for. He has been charged and so he should be. Some of the cats had to be euthanized.

I am amazed that someone would let a home get into such bad shape. The cats couldn't help it. They were desperate and trapped in the situation. The cats are out of it now and some will even find homes. The house will probably have to be demolished. I don't think gutting it will be enough. What was the son thinking when he let things get into such a bad state.
Why did none of the neighbours complain? Someone must have been aware of what was happening.

I am actually shocked by the condition of the home.
I have never seen anything like it! You are right. I can't imagine it will be possible to clean that place up. How the man could let it get like that -knowing there were animals inside....it's beyond me.

Those 30 cats must have been seriously in-bred as well, if they all originated from 2 cats.

It is a very sad story. But I am glad that some were fit to be re-homed.
The house will definitely need to be demolished.
I never thought about inbreeding.  That would be a serious issue. Some of the younger cats might have health problems  because of it.

How does a person let things reach that point?
...I honestly don't know. The man must have some mental problems I suppose.

I once (the year 2000) cleaned for somebody whose house looked similar. Except for a few piles of dog poop, the floor was not covered waist-deep with excrement though. It was literally knee-deep in discarded yogurt cartons, food wrappings, old envelopes, tin cans, spilled food....etc I cleaned it and made it look pristine. I went back the following week and it was all a junk zone again. So I cleaned it again. I began to feel the 'mick' was being taken, but I just did my job and picked up my £10.
Now, oddly, that was for a farmer's wife who was intelligent and ran her own business from home.....it was beyond my comprehension.
Why don't people use garbage cans? It is not that hard to throw out garbage. Why do people keep things that should be thrown out.

I went somewhere that was a tiny one room apartment in a basement(part of my job is situations like this). It had a three seater chesterfield that was piled high with what turned out to be poopy underwear. There were 6 garbage bags of it. I should know. I hauled it all to the garbage cans.
Every time his underwear got dirty he just tossed it on the chesterfield  and got out a new pair.

I guess it is not much different to leave two cats in a house. Once you have done it and lost control of the situation it will just keep getting worse and you won't know how to fix it.

I wonder that no one else noticed and did something sooner.

Although incredibly gross, there is something about that which is darkly funny....
Though not so funny for you, the one who had to haul all that underwear out of there.
I can't imagine the eventual fate of that Chesterfield, but one day some unsuspecting person would sit on it, unaware of its shady history!
I sure never  sat on that chesterfield.   Smiley4    It is funny now that I am not working there.

I  just don't understand why  and how people  get in a mess like that.
You should have seen my face when I realized what was on the chesterfield.  I couldn't believe it.
