It’s Unfathomable That They Were Going To Kill Her. Especially When You See What Happened Next.
January 4, 2014Stories (taken from SumbleUpon and Viralnova.com)

A malnourished and extremely pregnant dog named Mary was found at a kill shelter, awaiting euthanasia. Her time was up. However, thanks to a last-minute rescue and $1,000 in donations from people around the country, she was taken away from that awful place in put in a loving foster home. Once there, she went through an incredible journey to deliver a massive amount of puppies with her foster family.

How did I miss this one? I can't believe they were letting the dog starve even though she is clearly pregnant and then they were going to kill her. At no point did they show any kindness.

Good thing there are people out there would rescue dogs like Mary. It is amazing that so many of the puppies made it considering how malnourished mom was. They sure turned out cute and I bet they bring happiness into a lot of lives.Heart
I somehow read this but never did post a comment. That's amazing she was saved. Unfortunately that situation happens to dogs all over the world. It's sad but thankfully it's happening fewer and fewer. "Back in the 1990's 17 million dogs and cats were euthanized per year in the US. Now that number is closer to 5 million."

That quote is closer to the end of the video.

That is a dramatic decrease!! Some times it may seem like things aren't going so well but we are able to educate more and more people about how to care for their animals and to spay and neuter.

It give me hope that there will be fewer dogs like this one in the future.
He is right, things are better for animals. Things are better in a lot of ways all around the world. In particular we are more aware of animals being euthanized and a lot is being done to stop it. The changes needed don't happen suddenly, but the trends are in the right direction. There are movements to rescue animals. There are spay/neuter programs and clinics. There are even animal airlifts to take excess strays to areas that can accommodate them.

I know when we hear about all the bad stuff going on it gets discouraging, but maybe that should make us hopeful. The bad stuff always went on, we just did not know about it so we couldn't help.
I missed this thread, too. Thanks for posting, Tobi. It just shows that whilst some humans are capable of indifference or even cruelty to animals, others have hearts full of compassion. Thank goodness Mary landed up in a loving home. The photos are delightful.
Obviously I missed this as well. Congratulations to Mary who is now a proud new mama and to the genrosity of those who saved her!!!
The puppies turned out so cute and Mary is such a good mom. She just deserves all the best in the future.Heart
