Angry Smiley19 This is terrible. People from the Squamish Rehab Centre were walking some of their dogs. They were heading for home when a hunter shoot and killed a dog. He died right there in his owners arms.

The hunter may have had a permit for a legal hunt and it may be hunting season. I just don't think people walking their dogs are ever an  "in season" animal. Clearly when he shot, he had no clear idea of what he was shooting at. The hunter is responsible for this incident. He made a careless shot that could easily have killed one of the people walking with the dogs.
I don't know what kind of penalties are possible, but there needs to be consequences. Kaoru deserves better than what happened to him.
These gun-toting hunters seems to have a lot of free rein in both Canada and the USA. This is disgraceful and if this man isn't charged then the laws need changing.
The laws need changing. A hunter is supposed to have a clear shot and know what he is shooting at. It gets vague though. A woman hunter shot her husband and claimed she thought he was a bear. They couldn't prove she did it deliberately, but she did.
There were other indications, but no proof.

In this case the hunter had no idea what he was shooting. The dog did not look like a bear or a dear. He shot at movement or he thought it was a wolf. It was either careless or illegal. Either way it was wrong.

There are too many guns in North America and way too many guns in the woods right now.
