Things are worse for the oceans than we realize. We worry about the plastic islands in the oceans, but it is not that simple. The garbage is not just on the surface and it is not just big pieces of plastic garbage. It has broken up into micro plastic particles that are more like plastic smog in the ocean. That smog goes down a long way.

There are likely no places left in the oceans that are plastic free. As plastic breaks down into finer and finer particles it is able to travel with ocean currents everywhere that water goes. Marine life is ingesting this plastic. We don't know yet what will happen to these animals. We don't know how this will effect the oceans or the rest of the planet. It can't be good.
