There was a bad fire just north of where I live. In fact I had dinner in the restaurant across the road on Family Day. 
People were injured including fire fighters and four homes were damaged. Then after it was all over the fire fighters went in and amazingly they found a mother cat and her 4 kittens unhurt. I heard on the radio that she hid the kittens somehow.

The cat looks pretty good. The kittens look a little bedraggled, but unharmed. How did they ever survive a fire that sent a number of people to hospital? Cats really do have nine lives.

I'm glad to hear the firefighter is doing okay. The other firefighter, who broke his fall was very unselfish! He got hurt too and I hope they are both going to be well soon. Kind thoughts to those people who had to leave their homes. I hope they will be able to return some time in the future.

It's great to hear the cat and her kittens were safe. I bet the mother cat went down somewhere below the fire....to a basement or behind solid walls or something, where it must have felt cooler and be better air to breathe. I am glad they are all safe.

She could have found a spot in the cellar or under something protective. These old homes have lots of places where air comes in.
The cat was smart enough to protect her kittens. She didn't even look dirty when they brought her out. She is a good mom.

I understand both fire fighters are okay now. They haven't said what caused the fire. It is too bad for the people in the houses that it spread so fast. They will have lost all their personal effects. Furniture can be replaced, but pictures and such are irreplaceable.
