There has been a real push for video cameras in slaughterhouses. Britain is planning to make this happen. France was going to do it, but the government has not followed through on its promise. Certainly other countries need to set up cameras. That is the only way to prevent the horrific abuses that keep coming to light.
The penalties for abuse need to be stronger and other abuses need to be stopped. Many companies promised to end cage eggs, but so far it hasn't happened. Countries and companies agree to do better when pressured, but promises are not translating into actions at this time.

The public is becoming aware of how animals are treated. People are not comfortable with what happens to animals. This is the time when we need to push harder and make the truth better known. Most people are not comfortable with animal cruelty.
I think the cameras will make a difference. If one country does it, other countries will be challenged to do the same. Good for Britain that they are making such a bold step.
