June 8th is World Oceans Day. Every part of this planet is surrounded by oceans. Oceans are the life of our planet, its lungs and the health of our oceans  is an indicator of the health of our planet. If your lungs don't work, the rest of you isn't going to work very well either.
This is a day when everyone should stop and think about the oceans and what they do for us and what we do to them.

This is a good time to stop and think about what we can do to help our oceans. Right now the biggest crisis is plastic. Each of us  needs to find a way to reduce our use of plastics and to recycle when we do use.

I now have a metal water bottle to carry water in. No more plastic water bottles. I carry reusable bags for shopping.
I need to look at what I do and find other ways to cut back on my plastic use.  I know that doesn't help clean up the plastic that is in the oceans already.
If I lived near the ocean I could go out and pick up garbage off of shorelines. Maybe just picking up garbage from lakeshores and streams would help. Anything we do is a start. Just creating less plastic garbage is a start.
June 8th, World Oceans Day is a good day to reflect on what we can do and then resolve to do it.
