Mataelpino, a town near Madrid has found a cruelty free way to have a "running of the bulls" festival. There are no bulls harmed and people are clearly having fun.

It does look like fun and I am sure they can work with it to make it even better.

We can keep our traditions and somehow honour them if we are willing to make changes to eliminate animal cruelty. If you accept that animal cruelty is not acceptable then you open you thinking to other choices. If this town can do it then it can be done. Now we just have to hope that other towns take note and consider making changes.

I am sure any tradition can be altered to eliminate animal cruelty.
Maybe instead of eating dogs people should sit down and eat with dogs.
Being chased by a monumental Spanish tennis ball looks like great fun.... Undecided

(Does anyone remember "The Prisoner"?? It was on TV decades ago..... "I'm not a number, I'm a free man!"
This reminds me slightly of that.)

But anything is better than harming and frightening bulls. It was a cruel "sport". And extremely dangerous for humans as well!

I remember that The Prisoner. It was so interesting and the giant ball was scary in its own way. You are right it is like that show.

They have taken the idea of running from something in the streets and made it something that doesn't hurt animals. I am sure any of these odd festivals that involve hurting animals  could be transformed. An alternative action could be created.
The town is recognizing that the old way was cruel to the bulls. Their alternative might need some work, but it can still be fun.
