Yes, half the creatures of the world have disappeared since 1970 and we very much had a hand in it. The World Wildlife Federation has been monitoring species decline and loss. We have been told this is happening, but we still do nothing.
The climate is changing, animals are dying and we do nothing.
We could do a lot to reverse this, but the way most of the world lives is unsustainable.

ThisĀ  is an older report that has a lot more detail.

The situation is serious. All the nations of the world need to make changes. We need to fight climate change and we need to stop habitat destruction. We need to find sustainable forms of energy and sustainable ways of feeding ourselves.
What we can't do is continue to do things in the same way. We are using up 1.5 earths even though we only have one. Because of that we are depleting the resources of the planet. We have no choice, but to change. If we carry on at this rate things will crash.

I was born well before 1970 and I remember when there was a lot more wildlife than there is now. I remember more birds and more butterflies. There were bees everywhere. When the ducks and geese migrated they flew over us in waves. There were hundreds. We could hear them coming. I miss the sound of the birds migrating. Sadsmiley
