There are many animals myths that we should have stopped believing a long time ago. In some cases common sense should tell us its a myth.

Authors Nick Caruso and Dani Rabaiotti have written a book called "True or Poo? to refute these myths.
The article gives a sample of animal myths. Some I knew some I didn't. They even explain why they myth isn't true. That is helpful.

I bet you are glad to hear that we don't swallow spiders in our sleep. I don't know why anyone ever thought that could be true.
Definitely this would be a fun book to read.
That's fascinating. What I read already on the article is very interesting. I really had no idea why Chameleons changed colour! I always did think it was to match their environment (thus camouflage themselves) So I live and learn!
It would be a very interesting book. A good Christmas present for someone I think.
The book would be a fine Christmas gift.
I think we all grew up believing that Chameleons change colour because of their background or at least as camouflage.
Their shape and the way they move is good camouflage. I have seem chameleons up close showing the colours of their moods. Females signal the males that they are fertile and ready to breed by their colour. They get blue markings. The male won't go near them if they are not showing the right colours. It certainly saves time and prevents misunderstandings.

I always wondered about the eating spiders in our sleep thing. Why would a spider be on our faces in the first place?
I am glad my local spiders are all okay when I sleep.

What a jolly good idea! Humans should get T shirts printed! haha Smiley4  Saying "No chance"....or "Why not?"....in the right colours of course.... Smiley17 Undecided

And I have lots of spiders about in my house but they are all polite. Never once have I ended up with a spider on my face in bed. I think they have more sense. Spiders are basically quite sensible and don't want to get eaten!

You are right. Why would a spider be on your face. I have had spiders lower themselves down and look at me, but they go back to their webs where it is safe.

Chameleons communicate a great deal with their colours. It is like a dogs tail. Dogs can say a lot with their tails. Chameleons say it with colours.
The T-shirts would only work if they could change colours as the day goes on.
Mine could start in the morning with a simple "I haven't had my coffee message" and it could carry on with "I am having a good day" or "I am having a bad day" or "warning I have been stuck on the subway and now I am tired and hungry, approach at your own risk".
I would wear a T-shirt that could send messages like that.
We have a spider called a huntsman in Australia they can grow really big but don't do any harm they go after insects mainly,a lot of Aussie homes have had them one time or another,I had one running around for a long time he left me alone I left him alone all was fine til he came down off the top of the wall where he mainly lived and went into the fruit bowl and freaked me out, then he was tossed outside they're scary to look at but pretty harmless, unlike some of our other spiders.
He wasn't a smart spider. He violated the rules for spider house guests. Hiding in the fruit bowl is not allowed. No wonder you threw him out. I hope he behaves better in the next home he visits.

So far my spider house guests are well behaved. Of course all my spider guests are quite small. That makes a difference.
