Smiley19 This is a sad time for Yellowstone and its wolves. A beautiful Yellowstone wolf female, known as Spitfire, wandered outside the park boundaries. As soon as she crossed that invisible line she was legally fair game for hunters. She was shot and killed the same way he mother was shot and killed.

We turn wolves loose in a protected area and let them flourish. We draw a line on a map and say their protection ends here.
How are the wolves supposed to know that. Do they have a copy of the map? Did we put up signs saying wolf protection ends here, cross line at your own risk. Seriously though, we are being unreasonable. We do that with game reserves and bird sanctuaries. Cecil the lion was lured into crossing a line into an area where he could be killed.

If we are going to protect animals the protection has to cover the animal not some invisible line on a map.
In the Yellowstone area a buffer zone would help. It would give the wolves a chance. Maybe all sanctuaries and game reserves need buffer zones.
Maybe we need to deal with hunters who sit outside protected areas waiting for protected animals to cross the invisible line. Angry
