This is interesting and unexpected.
A species of flightless Rail evolved on Aldabra Atoll in the Indian Ocean. Rising water levels 136,000 years ago caused their extinction. When the water levels lowered a form of Rail that could fly returned to the island and evolved into a flightless form again. This is called Iterative Evolution.

This is unique. So far we have not found any other species that did this.
It brings to mind the question of rising sea levels and is this going to happen all over again. 
I think we are asking a bit much for this unique phenomena to happen again. Maybe we better tackle climate change and try and prevent the Aldabra Atoll from being inundated again.
