May 17. 2019 is Endangered Species Day.
At a time when climate change is progressing at faster and faster speeds it is good to take a day to reflect on endangered species.

There are some well known species that are critically endangered. We can think of them as the face of endangered species. However there are many more species at risk. Many will become extinct without ever having been discovered.
Endangered species are now a global emergency. Many species at risk are key to balanced ecosystems. Some like bees are critical to our food supply.
So yes it is good to reflect on the situation, but it is also a little like reflecting on a fire as our house burns down.
If we are going to save it we need to act fast.
