It has been sad to hear the news from the Washington State mud slide. It is a terrible tragedy. I never thought about peoples pets and farm animals. There have been sad losses there too, but there have also been some rescues.

It is good to know that in a disaster people care for the animals. They did not ask to be there and they are so helpless and do not understand what has happened. At least some pets had happy reunions with owners.
That mudslide is a terrible tragedy!

I am glad there is an effort to help the animals. Though it is sad about the horses whom the rescue people couldn't reach....heartbreaking.

Great that so much help was got together for them all, and Purina goes up in my estimation, to donate that food. Good for them. And a million thanks to everyone there who cares and is helping the animals.

I am so sorry about all those who lost loved ones in the mudslide.
It was a terrible tragedy and they may never know who all was lost, human and animal. But as you say, help was there and is still there. Purina did a good thing there. Many of the pet food companies step up during an emergency and provide help. Some of the companies regularly donate food to animal shelters.

Vets and vet techs provide help during a crisis. I have heard of dog groomers helping after an emergency to make the animals feel better by grooming them. They did that after hurricane Katrina.

This is when we know that there is a lot of good in the world. When there is need, people help. When animals are in need, somehow some comes to their rescue.
