Found this site... Some excellent quotes, incl. some ones I'd not heard before. Worth a look.

Very good quotations here, Knight. Thank you for this link.

I particularly liked this one:

“It ill becomes us to invoke in our daily prayers the blessings of God, the Compassionate, if we in turn will not practice elementary compassion towards our fellow creatures.” -Mahatma Gandhi
Very good link, thank-you for posting it. There is much food for thought there.
Thanks, Noble Knight. I always had a soft spot for Einstein and Schweitzer, who figure amongst the quotes. They were scientists, but not the hard-nosed type. They had hearts full of compassion.

I did not realize that they were vegetarian. They have a lot of good things to say about the subject.

You must read the works of Schweitzer. A truly remarkable man. He cared about everyone - people, animals and insects.

Anyone into quotes of this nature should treat themselves to 'The Extended Circle' by Jon Wynne-Tyson.
The magnum opus of humane/compassionate thought.
I have read about Albert Schweitzer, but I have never actually read what he wrote. Thank-you for making me aware of that fact.

I must look for the 'The Extended Circle' by Jon Wynne-Tyson. Is it a book or a set of essays. I am betting that our Toronto Public Library has a copy. We have a very good library system here. Our roads and sidewalks are a mess, but we can put up with that if we have good libraries.
It is an anthology of humane thought. A mixture of short and medium length quotations. Updated a while back, but the first print edition was over 400 pages.

I just looked it up and I think it is available through Amazon Books. I haven't even checked the library yet. It sounds like a good book to have. It would be a very good source of inspiring thoughts. I am going to check it out. Thank-you for mentioning the book. Smiley43
