Photographer Isa Leshko started a project to photograph rescue farm animals who where allowed to live out their lives at animal sanctuaries. Normally we would not see these animals growing old because they would have been killed years ago. She captured so much in her pictures. We actually get to see what an old pig looks like or an old donkey. These animals have had time to live, something most farm animals do not get.
Her pictures are available in a book, Allowed To Grow Old.

The images are beautiful. These animals have the quiet dignity that comes with years of life. It makes you wonder about all the other animals we raise whose lives are cut short. I hope her book makes a lot of people wonder about that.
