This article made me cry. There is an actual rescue out there that shows up to take care of the animals in a fire or some other disaster.
They are the "Red Cross" for animals. I understand that it is only in one location, but what if the movement spreads? Even if the idea spread, it would be enough.

During Hurricane Katrina people were forced to leave their pets.
Somehow I don't think that will ever happen again. Thinking has changed. Pets are part of our families and losing everything is hard, but having a pet returned safely at least leaves the family intact.

Seeing people reunited with their pets is wonderful. I know how I would feel. I don't even like to go on holiday and leave my pets.
What a wonderful charity this woman has started. I hope it does spread to other areas, and hopefully, other countries too.

Losing a beloved animal in tragic circumstances is one of the most painful situations for someone for whom their animal companion is a family member, and even worse when that animal is their sole family member and friend, which can happen, especially with some elderly people. The grief they suffer is tremendous.
It is so good to have a charity like Red Paw.
I have a feeling that there are other charities out there that rescue animals in disaster situations. Red Paw is amazing. I love the fact that she takes the animals home. I would be upset to find my pet is at a shelter after a fire. Somehow a home is not quite so bad. We might still be separated, but at least I would know that my animal(s) are being cared for.

You are right about seniors and their pets. Sometimes a pet is their only friend. They have outlived everyone else. That is sometimes what makes a nursing home so horrible. They have to leave their pets behind.
