Full Version: What animal has animal research taught us about Alzheimers? Not much.

A lot of money has been spent and a lot of animals have died for Alzheimers research. Since animals do not actually develop Alzheimers, Alzheimers is not actually being studied. They can force a sort of fake Alzheimers on the animals and then treat it, but it isn't actual Alzheimers and the treatments do not work for human alzheimers patients and can even make them worse.

If we want to make any progress in the study of Alzheimers we need to leave the animals alone and actually study Alzheimers patients. We need to understand the human brain if we are going to treat the human brain. All the countless animals that have suffered and died have been for nothing. We need to give up animal testing if we are ever going to make progress.

Odd that no good comes from cruelty to animals, or is it odd. Odder is to think that an action that is not good, like using animals in research, could actually bring good results. Leave the animals out of it and actually study the humans with the disease. I think this holds true of the whole field of researching human diseases.
If we changed our methods we might start getting some results. We would be better people for leaving animal cruelty out of our methods.
