Full Version: Bird breaks migration record.

A bird called a Bar Tailed Godwit set off from Alaska and flew to New Zealand, non stop.
That is a distance of over 12,000 Km.  The bird had been fitted with a satellite tag so its flight could be monitored. 
The previous record was just over 11,000 Km set by a bird of the same species.

That is an incredible journey. Since it was non stop and took many days, the bird must not have slept. Apparently some birds can do that.
When you look at the pictures, it is not a big bird and it just doesn't look capable of such a long flight.  Never underestimate the little birds.
I wonder if the will break their own record again next year.
