It was decided in the USA in 2015 that federally owned lab chimps would be retired to sanctuaries. They have been slow to follow through on the decision. Now they are resisting sending older chimps to sanctuaries at all. They are being kept at the lab facilities under unsuitable conditions. Their justification is that the chimps are old.

I think the fact that the chimps are old would be reason to move them quickly. These chimps don't have a lot of time left. That time should be spent in a sanctuary where their needs can finally be met.

No animal, especially a chimp should spend its whole life in a barren lab setting. These chimps deserve so much more.
