I came across the web site for the Soi Dog Foundation.
They are working to end the dog meat trade in south east Asia.

I haven't looked at every single thing on their site yet, but they are certainly doing amazing things.
It is a relief to know that people are fighting to end the horrible suffering of the dog meat trade.

There is a movie on the site, but it is over an hour long. Wisely I will wait until another day to watch it.
We discussed the dog meat trade in Korea and China on the old forum, I seem to remember. The worst thing about it is that the poor dogs are boiled alive - apparently because the perpetrators of this heinous act claim that the meat tastes better. There are some kind souls in that region, however, who are fighting to abolish it. Let's hope they succeed.
I am very touched and moved by the hard work of the Soi Dog Foundation. I hope they can help to make changes so desperately needed. The dog meat trade is completely heartbreaking.
I find it too hard to watch videos about it. My heart goes out to those who are brave enough to go out there and try to change attitudes/laws concerning the dog meat trade.

I clicked on your link Catherine, but for me, it only produced a Soi Dog logo....Is the link okay?
I have fixed the link. When I posted it last night, I clicked on the logo itself and not the actual web site.

I think what I find encouraging is the fact that they have actual organizations working to end the dog meat trade and rescue dogs.

Years ago it was just a few people trying to do something. Now they have the power of being a group with a web presence. They are probably not the only group either. This is real progress.

It seems so obvious that it is wrong to treat animals badly, but maybe it is only obvious once you learn to see other lives as having value.
This group is part of a greater shift in thinking about how we treat animals.
It was heartwarming to see pictures of dogs they had saved from slaughter and how they turned out.Heart
Yes the link works fine now. I just spent a while on their site, reading everything. They do some wonderful work.
I watched Soi Dog -the movie, quite a while ago, but think I will watch it again.
When you think about it -this was all started by a couple who visited Thailand. They were so moved that they started the foundation, and it has grown indeed from very small but heart-felt beginnings by a man and wife who cared. They gave up everything to change their lives to help those dogs. (and cats.)
I still want to watch the movie, but I do want to start earlier so I don't fall asleep half way through. I don't know what I was thinking of when I posted the link. I usually check to make sure a link works.

I did not realize that the foundation was started by a man and wife.
They have started something that is making a difference. I am sure when they went to Thailand they did not foresee what the future would hold for them.
If anything is going to change things for animals in those areas it will be organizations making people aware and actually rescuing the animals.
I must spend some more time on the web site checking out every section.
