Fourteen large Tegu lizards were stolen from a breeding facility. Six of them were females who were ready to lay eggs. One was actually in the middle of laying eggs. The owner of the facility has had some of the lizards more than ten years.

This is a terrible thing. These reptiles need special care. They have been with the same person for many years and they are getting that care. Who knows what the thief will do. The person is horrible enough to steal a lizard in the middle of egg laying. She could have trouble passing the rest of the eggs. Things could go wrong and she could die. I am sure the person did it for the money. These are expensive reptiles. I hope anyone who considers buying a breeding age Tegu will question  where the reptile comes from.

Maybe some reptiles need to be microchipped so they can be traced.
