That's right, they have created vegan Spam. Spam has a long history and it is popular as a food in south east Asia. Removing the pork product from the menu wasn't going to be possible. Instead, a vegan version was created. It had to taste, smell and have the same texture as spam. The vegan version does all that.
It just doesn't contain pork so it is not part of the pork industry.

If they can make vegan span they can make anything. I ate spam as a student, fried spam and eggs, spam sandwiches, spam and KD,  spam stir fry and even roasted spam. I would have switched to the vegan version. It would have been healthier too.

If we can replace popular foods with vegan versions then we can make a serious move away from eating meat.

That's good to read. Amazing that Omnipork only started in 2018 and is already going very strongly, even in the largely meat-eating USA.

People are wanting to eat less meat for a lot of reasons even in the USA. Spam is also not the healthiest food to eat. There is a reason why we call internet junk posts Spam. If they can create a vegan, healthy canned spam that actually tastes like spam, I can see why it would be popular.  

I lost my taste for spam years ago. I wonder if I would  like the new healthy version. I am going to watch for it in the grocery stores. There are starting to be many vegan choices now. There is even  vegan yogurt.

I don't like Spam vegan or non vegan but I'm trying to eat a bit better and I bought some vegetarian schnitzels the other day they were quite nice.

I don't like spam either. I lost my taste for food like that. I did try vegan chicken fingers and they were tasty.  They are getting the taste and the texture right. I don't know about vegan hot dogs. I haven't tried them, but I don't really eat hot dogs unless I am eating from a food cart at some event.
