This is an important question. Where do baby sea turtles go after they hatch? They don't swim around in the open ocean. Scientists have been working to track them. They hatch on the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean and then they head for the Sargasso Sea. The waters are food rich and warmer. The algae provides cover from predators. It gives the baby turtles a chance to feed and grow. It is the perfect turtle nursery.

Now we know what the Sargasso Sea is for. It has been around a long time and so have the turtles. It is an ecosystem that is suited to nurturing baby turtles.
Perhaps that is why the turtles nest on the beaches  along the Atlantic coast. It is not the warmest location, but there is a warm sea near by.
There must be other places around the world where other species of turtles  live as babies. It will be interesting to find out where those places are as scientists track them.
