People in  a Winnipeg neighbourhood are in a panic over the sighting of a lost pet.
That lost pet is actually a snake, a harmless corn snake.  Some witnesses say it was 8 feet long.
It is a corn snake and it is under 5 feet. It is also not giving a serious bite and it certainly does not have venom.

All they had to do was pick it up. Corn snakes are easy to handle and this one would probably be glad to be rescued. It might be okay outside in Winnipeg right now, but it can't survive the winter or even the fall.  If they don't find the snake it will die.
The people's attitude is that the snake must be caught for their protection. The snake must be caught for its own safety.

People are so silly about reptiles. If you look at the picture of the snake and think about the size of house siding and the tap in the picture with it, the snake is probably no more than 4 ft.  Who ever thought it was 8 ft has quite the imagination.
