A group of 8 Pilot Whales were beached off of Newfoundland. Three wildlife officers responded and found 8 whales on the rocks.  Sadly one whale was already dead. They rushed to save the surviving 7 whales. The officers stood in freezing cold waters while they maneuvered the whales to safety.  Because of their timely efforts, the whales survived.

The wildlife officers are heroes. What they did is not easy.
The ocean is very cold where they are and they did not have special protective gear. They worked for hours in  freezing water because the whales didn't have much time. I am glad they were recognized for what they did. It was special.
