This is so sad. It could have been much worse, but it is still sad.Smiley19
A wildlife rehab centre at Joelton, Tennessee has suffered a fire.
Some of the animals were lost. Many were saved and most of the facility is still usable, but the losses are still heartbreaking.

As usual the fire fighters were heroic and without them things would have been worse.
I really feel for the woman who runs the shelter. She is a real animal hero for running the centre in the first place and she is beautifully courageous for her response to the tragedy.
I hope they get the donations they need to get the centre up and running right away. Many animals are counting on them for their very survival.
This is so sad indeed. It's just so good to see that many animals came out of it okay. The woman certainly seems very dedicated and had done all she could to protect against fire. It must have been faulty wiring perhaps, which started the fire, as she said all appliances were off. It could be the place needed re-wiring, and due to tight funding it was overdue.

I wish them well for re-building the laundry room, and hope they get as much help as possible in the interim period, when all those animals will be feeling the heat.

I am so sorry about the animals and hawks who were victims of the fire.
I looked to see if there were any more recent articles. I didn't find any, but I will check again tomorrow.

Sadly some of the rescued animals will still die because of the smoke they inhaled. It is amazing that they rescued as many as they did.

When they had a fire at an Ontario Humane society shelter in 2008, eight dogs and two cats were rescued. One hundred and fifty other animals died of smoke inhalation. They have since rebuilt, but it was heartbreaking.

I am sure they will rebuild and many of the animals will survive. You are probably right about it being an electrical issue. Either that or there was a problem with a dryer. At least their buildings are mostly intact.
That's sad. Poor things.
It is sad when an animal shelter burns like that. The animals are so helpless.
I wish them every success in rebuilding.
Heart breaking, but inspiring that they will rebuild and continue.
I found their Facebook page and it has updates.

It is amazing the work they have done and it is amazing how well they are managing after the fire. Of course people are really responding to their needs. People are really wonderful how they help out.

I am sure they will be up and running better than ever before you know it.
