Austin Pets Alive opened in 2008.  They are a no kill shelter in Austin, a city that has declared itself a no kill city. Since opening they have developed programs and worked at rescuing animals. They have worked so hard that they have reached their 100,000th rescue. Their work of preventing needless euthanasia has resulted in 100,000 animals being rescued. The Austin shelter is an example for the rest of the world.

They are a no kill shelter, but they worked with the city council to have the city be a no kill city. The shelter and the city are working towards the same goals.
It is getting results.  Good things are happening and animals are being allowed to live and find forever homes. Well done Austin and well done Austin Pets Alive.
