We don't really know why they crossed the road, but a local grandmother observed 6 goslings cross a busy road with the help of their parents. It was a bit frightening, but they did make it.

They were a little proud and a little scared, but they all made it. I notice they all snuggled up under mom afterwards. They were not quite as brave as they let on.
