These amazing cows seemed to listen to me when I called them over.

I wanted to stroke them but the farmers can get annoyed when you do so I did not.
At one point I had to back off from the gate as they were pushing the gate.

Cows are just big friendly dogs.

They do seem friendly. They were definitely curious about what you were doing.  Maybe they like to be photographed, some animals like the attention.
