There has been an ongoing controversy over footballer Zouma after a video was posted of him abusing his cat. It happened on more than one occasion and it was his brother who filmed it. He did plead guilty to the offence. His cats were rehomed. He lost contracts and sponsorships. He was fined by his football team.
Now he has been given a five year ban on owning a cat and he must do 180 hours of community service.
The brother who filmed the incident must do 140 hours of community service.

I think the message is clear: do not abuse animals. If you are a public figure, then it will cost you. Even if he goes on to have a successful career, it is unlikely he will ever get a sponsorship contract again. I doubt he should be allowed to have a cat in five years.
I doubt anyone would sell him a cat and certainly no shelter would let him have one. You abuse an animal there should be consequences. This time there were.
There is a little update on this one. It seems the 180 hours of community service involves picking up litter and tasks like that.

He is not getting any special treatment. You abuse your cat and you can expect to pay for it.

I hope both cats are now in loving homes that appreciate them.
